Speeding Ticket & Traffic Violation Appeals

Don't Give Up. Speeding Ticket Appeals and Traffic Ticket Violations Appeals Lawyers

The law office of Colwell, Colwell & Petroccione, LLP represents clients in appealing speeding convictions in New York. Most of our clients contact us after receiving an unpleasant notice from the Department of Motor Vehicles informing them of their impending license suspension. Many of our clients pled guilty to a traffic charge without the benefit of an attorney, unaware that their guilty plea put them over 11 points or three speeding and/or misdemeanor tickets within an 18 month period, thus triggering a suspension or revocation of their New York driving privileges.

Did you plead guilty to a speeding ticket not knowing that your license would be revoked? If so, our law firm can take swift and aggressive action to help you protect your license. We make an immediate motion for coram nobis to the original court to vacate the speeding ticket, driving without a license or other moving violation conviction and to place the matter back on the court calendar.

Handling Traffic Appeals Throughout Upstate New York

Our team of three lawyers handle traffic conviction appeals for New York residents and for out-of-state visitors ticketed along the Taconic Parkway, the Thruway, I-90 or elsewhere in Upstate New York.

If our motion is granted, your conviction will be vacated. At that point, we can defend you against the original charge. At that point, we have helped many clients negotiate a reduction of their original charge which will not result in the subsequent suspension or revocation from the DMV.

Traffic Violations Appeals

In the five boroughs of New York, New York City, Buffalo, Rochester and certain parts of Suffolk County, traffic tickets are administered by the Traffic Violations Bureau (TVB), and not local court. If you had a hearing or if your guilty plea resulted in your license being suspended or revoked, you may have a chance to appeal your conviction.

You must act quickly. An appeal of a TVB conviction must be filed within 30 days of the decision. Your appeal will be decided by the Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany.
